LEARNING

The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live.

School Counselor

Norland Elementary's Guidance Program is a comprehensive student development oriented program. It is an integral part of the whole educational process, as well as interventive and preventive in nature. It focuses on a "team" approach as it involves the cooperation of the staff, the parent and the child, and outside agencies through our full service school component.

Norland's guidance program starts the first day of school and includes one hundred percent of the student population.

Its certified guidance counselor, Bernadette A. Forde, assesses the needs of the students and involves them in school wide programs, classroom presentations, small group and individual counseling. She focuses on conflict management, substance education, affective eduation, career education and crisis intervention. The guidance program fosters the development of each child to his/her potential.
