19340 N.W. 8th Court
Prekindergarten - First Grade: 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. State law requires school attendance of minors age sixteen and under. Regular school attendance is essential for academic achievement. It is expected that students will report to school daily and on time. Every absence must be followed up with a note from the parent/guardian indicating the nature of the absence. Students with ten unexcused absences will be enrolled in the Truancy Intervention Program (TIP). In addition to the Truancy Intervention Program, school personnel will contact parents/guardians periodically when a student is absent.
All Norland Elementary School students are expected to be in uniform each day. Uniforms may be purchased at Ibiley Uniforms or at any other store. School colors are dark green or khaki - pants/shorts/skirts and solid yellow or green shirts. Thong sandals, cleats or heels, open toe shoes or taps on shoes are not acceptable for our school. Students are requested to wear their shirts tucked in their pants, shorts or skirts. Home learning assignments are an essential component of the instructional process in our school. Our students have a home learning assignment every night. Even if a specific assignment was not assigned by the teacher, Reading for thirty minutes daily will always be an assignment as required by Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Students should be encouraged to read and summarize in writing or verbally what he/she has just read.
We encourage parents and other community members to become school volunteers. Please stop by the office and sign up with our counselor today.
